Springfield livestock sales
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,101 head May 23, compared to 2,362 head last week and 1,879 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold fully steady. Holsteins weighing from 500 to 800 pounds sold $3 to $5 higher. Other weights of Holsteins traded steady. Demand is moderate to good, supply moderate. The feeder supply included 32% steers, 17% Holsteins, 36% heifers, 15% bulls, with 35% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 124.00 to 132.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 118.00 to 122.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 113.00 to 123.00, calves 660 lbs., 109.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 107.50 to 117.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2 300 to 400 lbs., 122.00 to 132.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 119.00 to 126.00, lot thin 131.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 117.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.50 to 118.00. Large frame 1, 480 to 580 lbs., 119.50 to 117.00; lot 623 lbs., 105.00. Holsteins: Large frame 3, 320 to 390 lbs., 92.00 to 103.00; 400 to 525 lbs., 92.00 to 98.00; 560 to 650 lbs., 88.00 to 94.00; 700 to 780 lbs., 84.00 to 90.00; 888 to 984 lbs., 75.00 to 78.50. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 122.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.50 to 116.00.
