South Central direct sheep
The South Central Direct Sheep sales report for the week ending May 18, showed receipts of 2,800 feeder lambs, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder lambs were firm to $2 higher. There were not slaughter lambs. Slaughter and replacement ewes and slaughter meat goats were not tested. Trading fairly, demand was good. The good rains throughout the area have made lush pasture conditions. Lambs have done very well the past several weeks and now producers want to market their lambs before the needle grass becomes a problem. Feeder lambs: Texas, 2800 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 80 to 90 lbs., 105.00 to 107.00; 100 lbs., 100.00, most with .30 to .40 slide over the base weight. B 16 5/28/07 2 Star EK Date: 5/24/07
