Salina cattle auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 1,875 head, May 17, compared to 2,321 head, last week and 2,146 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers at 400 to 600 pounds were steady. Steers at 600 to 800 pounds were not enough Medium and large frame 1 for a market test, 800 to 950 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Heifers at 600 to 1000 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 74% 600 pounds and over, 23% 600 pounds and under, 3% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 47% steers and 53% heifers.
