Pratt livestock market report
Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 5,332 head May 17, compared to 1,991 head last week and 4,665 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 300 to 700 pounds and feeder heifers at 300 to 650 pounds were not enough for a market test but a higher undertone was noted. Feeder steers at 700 to 950 pounds were $1 higher, and 950 to 1050 pounds were $3 to $6 higher. Feeder heifers at 650 to 850 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, and 850 to 1000 pounds were steady. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were $1 higher. Receipts included 83% 600 pounds and over, 11% 600 pounds and under, 6% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 48% steers, 52% heifers.
