Tulia livestock market report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 6,825 head March 19, compared to 5,289 head last week and 2,125 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 500 pounds were $3 to $5 higher, 500 to 700 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, over 700 pounds were $2 to $3 lower. Feeder heifers over 500 pounds were $1 to $3 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were not reported. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 1000-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 99% and slaughter cows and bulls 1% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 69% of the run, heifers 31%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 81%.
