Springfield livestock sales

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,953 head March 21, compared to 2,065 head last week and 1,313 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers and Holstein steers steady, heifers were steady to $2 lower. Demand and supply were moderate. A special Wean-Vac sale was held in conjunction with the regular feeder cattle sale. The calf offering covered the full spectrum from thin, weaned calves to fleshy, new crops. The feeder supply included 36% steers, 12% Holsteins, 38% heifers, 4% bulls, with 41% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 134.00 to 140.00; 460 to 465 lbs., 124.50 to 127.00; 525 to 600 lbs., 118.00 to 124.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 113.00, package fleshy 759 lbs., 96.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 126.00 to 129.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 125.00, thin 127.00 to 128.00; 500 to 565 lbs., 116.50 to 122.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 118.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 97.50 to 105.50; package 873 lbs., 92.00; 900 to 925 lbs., 93.50 to 95.00. Medium and large frame 2, 525 to 565 lbs., 109.00 to 113.00; 650 to 670 lbs., 100.00 to 108.50.
