Sioux Falls sheep sales
The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 565 head March 19, compared to 674 head last week and 563 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs under 150 pounds sold $1 to $2 higher while those over 150 pounds sold steady. Slaughter ewes sold $3 to $5 instances $10 lower. Feeder lambs were too few to test. Receipts were about 52% slaughter ewes, 36% slaughter lambs, 7% feeder lambs and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 115 to 126 lbs., 91.25 to 94.00 (92.86); 130 to 144 lbs., 86.50 to 89.25 (88.06); 153 to 167 lbs., 84.50 to 87.25 (86.78). Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 161 to 184 lbs., 20.00 to 23.00 (22.22). Good 2 to 4, 6 head, 145 lbs., 31.00; 166 to 176 lbs., 31.50 to 38.00 (32.82); 18 head, 164 to 193 lbs., 29.25 to 29.50 (29.38) full. Good 3 to 4, 7 head, 191 lbs., 25.50; 204 to 245 lbs., 21.50 to 25.00 (23.78). Utility 1 to 2, 14 head, 151 to 154 lbs., 27.00. Cull 1, 111 to 149 lbs., 15.50 to 22.00 (17.77).
