Salina cattle auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 4,297 head March 15, compared to 4,175 head last week and 4,925 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, feeder steers at 400 to 850 pounds were steady to firm, and 850 to 1000 pounds were steady to weak. Feeder heifers at 400 to 600 pounds were $1 to $1.50 higher, and 600 to 900 pounds were steady to $1 lower. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 85% 600 pounds and over, 14% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 59% steers and 41% heifers.
