OKC West livestock auction report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 4,393 head March 21, compared to 7,425 head last week, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week at OKC West, feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady except steers over 800 pounds were firm to $1 higher and thin 600- to 725-pound steers and heifers suitable for grazing $3 to $6 higher. Steer and heifer calves were $2 to $3 higher. Feeder cattle off of wheat in moderate to heavy flesh conditions, with several consignments of thin fleshed grazing type cattle in the offering. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 higher. Packer demand was good. A total of 226 cows and bulls sold with 53% going to packers.
