Joplin regional market report

The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 7,829 head March 19, compared to 9,965 head last week and 5,063 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers under 600 pounds were $3 to $5 lower, over 600 pounds were $1 to $3 lower. Demand was best for yearlings and calves suitable for grazing. Fleshy, new crop calves taking the heaviest discounts. The supply was heavy. The feeder supply included 46% steers, 44% heifers, 10% bulls, with 32% over 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250 to 300 lbs., 143.00 to 147.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 123.00 to 142.00, thin 134.00 to 148.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 124.00 to 133.00, thin 131.00 to 136.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 127.00, thin 126.00 to 131.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 122.00, thin 116.00 to 123.00, fleshy 103.00 to 113.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 117.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 96.75 to 109.25; package 835 lbs., 94.00.
