High Plains slaughter news

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending March 18, totaled 188,886 head, compared to 192,193 head last week and 202,456 head last year, according to the USDA-Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 2,121 head, 1,225 to 1,500 lbs., 97.00 to 101.00 (99.83); 65 to 80% Choice, 7,588 head, 1,150 to 1,460 lbs., 96.00 to 100.75 (99.03); 35 to 65% Choice, 38,866 head, 1,100 to 1,450 lbs., 94.50 to 100.00 (98.14); 0 to 35% Choice, 7,797 head, 1,050 to 1,335 lbs., 96.00 to 99.50 (98.10).
