Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, March 16, reported receipts of 4,659 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,728 head last week and 3,096 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were $5 to $7 higher. Light slaughter lambs were steady, heavy weights were $5 to $10 higher. Stock and feeder goats were steady to firm. Slaughter goats were steady to firm. Demand was good. The supply included around 55% sheep including nearly 3000 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 65 to 80 lbs., new crop 117.00 to 119.00; 80 to 90 lbs., new crop 114.00 to 118.00; 90 to 110 lbs., new crop 105.00 to 116.00. Dorper ewes, 80 to 130 lbs., 51.00 to 94.00. Dorper bucks, 100.00 to 310.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice: 90 to 110 lbs., new crop 110.00 to 115.00; 100 to 140 lbs., old crop 80.00 to 87.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 45 to 85 lbs., 110.00 to 125.00.

Slaughter ewes: Utility 1 to 3, medium flesh, 100 to 150 lbs., 45.00 to 52.00. Barbados, ewes, 70 to 100 lbs., 35.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 25 to 45 lbs., 125.00 to 141.00; 45 to 60 lbs., 130.00 to 144.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 131.00 to 141.00, few to 148.00. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 100.00 to 114.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 45.00 to 55.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 65.00 to 75.00, few light weights 80.00 to 84.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 80 to 120 lbs., 75.00 to 88.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, few fancy 160.00 to 330.00 per head. Selection 2, 70 to 120 lbs., 60.00 to 75.00. Pairs, 30.00 to 46.00 per head.

Stock and feeder goats: few 25 to 45 lbs., 110.00 to 129.00.
