Springfield cattle sales
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,805 head May 30, compared to 2,101 head last week and 1,584 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers, feeder bulls, and heifers under 500 pounds were $2 to $3 higher, over 500 pounds were steady. Demand was strong on lighter calves, and supply was moderate. Holsteins were not well tested, but with higher undertones. The feeder supply included 44% steers, 10% Holsteins, 37% heifers, 8% bulls, with 34% of the run over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 144.00 to 146.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 125.00 to 128.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.50 to 120.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 113.00 to 118.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 115.50; package fancy, 763 lbs., 115.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 127.00 to 141.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 117.00 to 133.00, 500 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 121.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.00 to 113.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 95.00 to 115.00. Holsteins: Large frame 3, 300 to 400 lbs., 97.00 to 107.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 89.50 to 93.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 81.00 to 88.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 82.00 to 83.50. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 113.50 to 119.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.00 to 116.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 96.00 to 100.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 114.00 to 129.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 122.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 110.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 99.50 to 107.00, package fleshy, 683 lbs., 96.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 95.50 to 99.00.
