Salina cattle auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 1,551 head, May 24, compared to 1,875 head, last week and 2,454 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 400 to 750 pounds and heifers weighing 400 to 650 pounds were not tested, Steers at 750 to 1000 pounds were steady. Heifers 650 to 850 pounds were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 90% 600 pounds and over, 8% 600 pounds and under, 2% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 51% steers and 49% heifers.
