Salina cattle auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 1,551 head, May 24, compared to 1,875 head, last week and 2,454 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 400 to 750 pounds and heifers weighing 400 to 650 pounds were not tested, Steers at 750 to 1000 pounds were steady. Heifers 650 to 850 pounds were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 90% 600 pounds and over, 8% 600 pounds and under, 2% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 51% steers and 49% heifers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 431 lbs., 139.00; 6 head, 548 lbs., 124.00; 12 head, 635 lbs., 117.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 115.00 to 117.50 (115.82); 38 head, 735 lbs., 110.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 107.50 to 109.50 (108.27); 800 to 850 lbs., 107.50 to 109.25 (108.71); 850 to 900 lbs., 105.00 to 106.60 (106.48); 14 head, 925 lbs., 104.00. Medium and large frame 2, 7 head, 649 lbs., 114.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00 (106.99); 700 to 750 lbs., 107.00 to 108.50 (107.75); 850 to 900 lbs., 99.25 to 100.00 (99.52). Large frame 3, Holsteins, 3 head, 372 lbs., 99.00.
