Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, May 25, reported receipts of 1,690 head of sheep and goats, compared to 3,996 head last week and 3,939 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Slaughter lambs were steady. Stock and feeder goats were steady. Slaughter goats were steady to weak. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including near 250 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, few 85-lb. ewe lambs 90.00. Barbados ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 56.00 to 70.00.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 90 to 120 lbs., 86.00 to 91.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 85.00 to 98.00, few to 105.00; few old crop 70.00 to 80.00.

Slaughter ewes: Utility 1 to 3, Medium flesh, 100 to 140 lbs., 40.00 to 48.00. Cull, thin/very thin, 30.00 to 39.00.

Slaughter bucks: 150 to 225 lbs., 28.00 to 46.00. Barbados, lambs, 45 to 70 lbs., 88.00 to 100.00. Ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 40.00 to 47.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 60 lbs., 127.00 to 134.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 120.00 to 129.50. Selection 2, 45 to 60 lbs., 118.00 to 126.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 54.00 to 64.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 65.00 to 75.00, few light weights 80.00 to 85.00. Muttons, few 90 to 110 lbs., 89.00 to 105.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 125 lbs., 65.00 to 85.00. Billies, Selection 1, 110.00 to 165.00 per head.

Stock and feeder goats: Selection 1, 25 to 45 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00.
