Wyobraska cattle salesThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending June 16, totaled 1,550 head, compared to 700 head last week and 5,525 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers were not well tested. Demand was moderate to good for available supplies. Direct trade was slow and no good price comparison was available for this week's reported sales. Offerings were moderate. Demand and buyer inquiry was moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices were current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 45% of the supply, heifers 55%, with 72% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 900 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 410 lbs., 132.50; 510 lbs., 124.5; 865 lbs., 97.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 560 lbs., 127.00; 740 lbs., 105.00.
