West Plains regional sales

The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,214 head June 19, compared to 1,459 head last week and 1,417 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, there were too few receipts of feeder steers to adequately test the market. Feeder heifers under 600 pounds were steady on a limited test, and over 600 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were steady on a light test. Slaughter bulls were steady. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate. Feeder cattle account for approximately 85% of the run with slaughter cows and bulls accounting for 15% of the run. In the feeder supply steers made up approximately 26%, heifers 74%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds 89%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 447 lbs., 129.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 121.00; package 670 lb. calves 103.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 128.00 to 135.00; lot 453 lbs., 123.00; packages 620 to 621 lbs., 107.00 to 108.00; load 711 lbs., 107.50. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 575 lbs., 106.00; 700 to 725 lbs., 93.00 to 97.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, load 678 lbs., 98.50; load 723 lbs., 95.50; package 863 lbs., 82.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 114.00 to 116.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.50 to 103.75, calves 93.00 to 97.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 100.00 to 102.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 520 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00; load 628 lbs., 104.25, 600 to 700 lb. calves 93.00 to 97.50; 740 to 800 lbs., 94.00 to 96.50, lot 725 lbs., fleshy 92.50. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 300 to 400 lbs., 110.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 105.00 to 106.00; package 595 lbs., 95.00; package 781 lbs., 90.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 50.00 to 53.50; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 49.50 to 52.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 48.00 to 52.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 47.00 to 49.00; low dressing, 40.00 to 42.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1500 to 1700 lbs., 62.25 to 62.50.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 to 1100 lbs., 3 to 7 months bred, 600.00 to 720.00 per head; middle aged, 900 to 1100 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 710.00 to 760.00 per head; aged, 950 to 1250 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, 610.00 to 780.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged, 1000 to 1200 lbs., with 250- to 400-lb. calves, 1020.00 to 1210.00 per pair; 800 to 900 lbs., with 200- to 250-lb. calves, 720.00 to 860.00 per pair; aged, 700 to 900 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 650.00 to 700.00 per pair; 1000 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 250-lb. calves, 800.00 to 1000.00 per pair.
