St. Onge livestock sale report

The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 758 head June 15, compared to 751 head last week and 603 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder cattle were not well tested. Feeder cows sold mostly steady to $3 higher with full advance on Large frame 1, replacement cows. Slaughter cows sold steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls sold steady to $2 higher. Demand was moderate to good. Feeder receipts included 62% steers and bulls with 38% heifers, and 30% over 600 pounds. Receipts included about 9% feeder cattle, 68% replacement females, 13% slaughter cows and bulls; 4% pairs with balance bred cattle, feeder bulls, baby calves and other miscellaneous cattle.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 18 head, 475 lbs., 136.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 403 lbs., 127.50; 16 head, 497 lbs., 121.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 17 head, 841 lbs., 96.00.

Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 900 to 1075 lbs., 85.00 to 93.50; 3 to 4 years old, 950 to 1200 lbs., 71.00 to 81.00.

Feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 1050 to 1275 lbs., 57.00 to 69.00; middle aged, 1080 to 1350 lbs., 52.00 to 55.00; aged, 975 to 1350 lbs., 48.00 to 51.50. Large frame 1, 1400 to 1575 lbs., 50.00 to 54.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1240 to 1620 lbs., 51.75 to 55.50; low dressing, 45.00 to 48.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 975 to 1325 lbs., 47.50 to 50.00; low dressing, 45.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 46.50 to 50.25; low dressing, 43.00 to 45.00; 965 to 1000 lbs., 46.50 to 48.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1685 to 2425 lbs., 62.25 to 66.00; low dressing, 59.75 to 61.25.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, price per pair, 20 head, 1100 lbs., with 300-lb. calves, 3 to 4 years old, black whiteface, 1685.00.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1, calve August 1 for 60 days, price per head, 10 head, 1290 lbs., broken, black-black whiteface, 725.00.

Baby calves: 140.00 to 375.00 per head.
