Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 878 head June 14, compared to 361 head last week and 1,360 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter ewes sold mostly steady. Feeder lambs sold steady to $2 higher in more liberal numbers with attractive offerings. Demand good for new crop feeder lambs and moderated to good for slaughter ewes. Receipts included about 17% slaughter ewes, 80% feeder lambs, with the balance slaughter bucks and other miscellaneous sheep and goats. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 58 head, 162 lbs., 29.50. Good 3 to 4, 9 head, 129 lbs., 15.50 hair sheep; 11 head, 201 lbs., 22.50. Utility and Good 1 to 3, 18 head, 103 lbs., 21.50. Utility 1 to 2, 23 head, 139 lbs., 24.25. Cull 1, 21 head, 127 lbs., 17.25. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 50 head, 67 lbs., 117.00; 44 head, 75 lbs., 116.00; 114 head, 86 lbs., 110.00 to 114.50 (113.26); 95 to 97 lbs., 110.00 to 110.50 (110.09); 99 head, 105 lbs., 107.00; 15 head, 108 lbs., 96.50 old crop. Medium frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 47 lbs., 113.00; 11 head, 70 lbs., 110.50; 15 head, 101 lbs., 72.00 old crop. Slaughter bucks: 19 head, 160 to 205 lbs., 21.50 to 27.50. Date: 6/21/07
