Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, June 15, reported receipts of 2,384 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,918 head last week and 4,085 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Light weight slaughter lambs were $3 to $5 lower, heavy weights were weak on a light test. Stocker and feeder goats were $10 to $15 lower. Slaughter goats were $20 to $25 lower. Demand was moderate. The supply included around 30% sheep including nearly 400 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper bucks, 180.00 per head. Barbados ewes, 50 to 70 lbs., 43.00 to 55.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 250.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, few old crop Choice, 100 to 130 lbs., 55.00 to 60.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 50 to 80 lbs., 65.00 to 75.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 70 lbs., 55.00 to 65.00; ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 35.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 60 lbs., 80.00 to 86.50; 60 to 80 lbs., 80.00 to 83.50, few to 87.50. Selection 2, 45 to 60 lbs., 72.00 to 79.50; 60 to 80 lbs., 70.00 to 79.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 50.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 55.00 to 67.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 80 to 110 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00. Selection 2, 130 to 180 lbs., 55.00 to 60.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 60.00 to 80.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 45.00 to 60.00. Billies, Selection 1, 100 to 150 lbs., 71.00 to 85.00.

Stock and feeder goats: Selection 1, 35 to 50 lbs., 75.00 to 86.00.
