Faith livestock sales report

The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 485 head June 18, compared to 750 head last week and 910 head years ago, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder cattle trends were not applicable. Feeder cows sold mostly steady to weak. Slaughter cows sold steady to $2 lower on a limited test. Slaughter bulls sold mostly steady. Demand was moderate to good. Feeder receipts included 66% steers and 34% heifers, with 41% over 600 pounds. Receipts included about 33% feeder cattle, 37% replacement females, 10% slaughter cows and bulls, 18% pairs, with the other miscellaneous cattle.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 59 head, 564 lbs., 132.50 gaunt; 6 head, 697 lbs., 116.00 calves; 13 head, 800 lbs., 106.50. Small and medium frame 3 to 4, 12 head, 665 lbs., 59.50; 5 head, 743 lbs., 65.50; 5 head, 834 lbs., 60.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 24 head, 541 lbs., 125.00 gaunt; 6 head, 550 lbs., 119.50; 8 head, 621 lbs., 119.00 calves; 8 head, 716 lbs., 105.50; 5 head, 846 lbs., 96.00.

Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 5 years old, 1000 to 1105 lbs., 68.00 to 83.50.

Feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle aged, 1150 to 1350 lbs., 52.25 to 55.50; aged, 1200 to 1350 lbs., 48.00 to 52.00. Large frame 1, 1400 to 1680 lbs., 50.00 to 53.25.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1330 to 1790 lbs., 53.00; high dressing, 54.75. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1095 to 1510 lbs., 47.50 to 51.50; high dressing, 52.00 to 52.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 45.00; low dressing, 42.50 to 44.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1400 to 2350 lbs., 62.00 to 66.50; high dressing, 67.25 to 70.25; low dressing, 58.00 to 60.75.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, price per pair, 76 head, 1070 to 1245 lbs., with 200- to 270-lb. calves, 2 to 4 years old, mixed 1400.00 to 1550.00; 12 head, 1245 to 1290 lbs., with 150- to 180-lb. calves, solid to broken, mixed 1000.00 to 1100.00.
