FSA emergency loans available for April freezeKansas Bill R. Fuller, State Executive Director of the Kansas Farm Service Agency announced recently that FSA is making emergency loans available to help qualified producers recover from production and physical losses due to the freezing weather on April 4 to 10, 2007, in Allen, Anderson, Atchison, Barber, Barton, Bourbon, Brown, Butler, Chase, Cherokee, Clay, Cloud, Coffey, Cowley, Crawford, Dickinson, Douglas, Elk, Ellis, Ellsworth, Franklin, Geary, Graham, Harvey, Jackson, Jefferson, Jewell, Johnson, Kingman, Kiowa, Labette, Leavenworth, Lincoln, Linn, Lyon, Marion, Marshall, McPherson, Miami, Mitchell, Montgomery, Morris, Nemaha, Neosho, Osage, Osborne, Ottawa, Pawnee, Pottawatomie, Pratt, Reno, Republic, Rice, Riley, Rooks, Rush, Russell, Saline, Sedgwick, Shawnee, Smith, Stafford, Sumner, Wabaunsee, Washington, Wilson, Woodson, and Wyandotte counties. Contiguous counties also eligible are: Chautauqua, Clark, Comanche, Doniphan, Edwards, Ford, Gove, Greenwood, Harper, Hodgeman, Ness, Norton, Phillips, Sheridan, and Trego. This is according to Secretarial Disaster Designation S2525. Eligible loan funds may be used to restore or replace essential property and pay production costs associated with the disaster year. Applicants can borrow up to 100 percent of actual production or physical losses not to exceed $500,000. The current rate for these low interest loans is 3.75 percent. Producers must meet eligibility requirements and not be able to obtain credit from a commercial lender. FSA will consider each loan application on its own merits, taking into account the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability. Producers in eligible counties have until Feb. 15, 2008 to apply for an emergency loan. Contact the FSA office at your local USDA Service Center. Date: 6/21/07
