Dalhart cattle sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, June 14, reported receipts of 1,449 head, compared to 1,924 head last week and 1,685 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady, instances over 600 pounds were $1 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $2 lower. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 85% and slaughter cows and bulls 15%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 68% of the run, heifers 32%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 60%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, three packages 234 to 292 lbs., 152.00 to 173.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 136.00 to 145.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 125.00 to 126.00; package 534 lbs., 122.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.50 to 113.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 105.00 to 108.50; load 822 lbs., 101.50; load 929 lbs., 98.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 309 lbs., 156.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 127.00, package 421 lbs., 131.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.50 to 116.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.00 to 114.00; package 747 lbs., 101.00; package 806 lbs., 98.25. Medium and large frame 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 120.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 200 to 300 lbs., 148.00 to 150.00; two packages 518 to 570 lbs., 105.50 to 109.00; package 650 lbs., 101.00; few 700 to 800 lbs., 97.25 to 99.00; package 851 lbs., fleshy 90.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 281 lbs., 130.00; two packages 316 to 366 lbs., 118.50 to 126.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 116.50; package 521 lbs., 105.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 95.50 to 100.25; package 721 lbs., 96.50; package 882 lbs., 90.00. Medium and large frame 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 105.25 to 108.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 97.25 to 101.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 50.50 to 52.25. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 48.50 to 53.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 50.00 to 53.25; high dressing, 54.50 to 55.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 48.00 to 52.50; high dressing, 53.00 to 54.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1400 to 1900 lbs., 62.50 to 67.50.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle aged to aged, 900 to 1200 lbs., with 75- to 200-lb. calves, 760.00 to 960.00 per pair.
