St. Onge livestock sale

The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., June 8, reported receipts of 751 head, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Cattle trends were not applicable on all classes due to auction not recently reported, however a weak undertone was noted. Demand was moderate to good. Feeder receipts included 48% steers and 52% heifers, with 73% over 600 pounds. Receipts included about 12% feeder cattle, 65% replacement females, 8% slaughter cows and bulls, 9% pairs with balance bred cattle, baby calves and other miscellaneous cattle.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 9 head, 573 lbs., 119.00; 10 head, 610 lbs., 123.00 calves; 5 head, 732 lbs., 107.00 calves; 7 head, 1004 lbs., 98.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 14 head, 569 to 591 lbs., 109.50 to 110.50 (109.78); 608 to 611 lbs., 105.00 to 114.00 (109.00) calves; 9 head, 655 lbs., 102.50 calves.

Feeder bulls: Large frame 1, 9 head, 1159 lbs., 86.00.

Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 850 to 1050 lbs., 80.00 to 97.00; 3 to 4 years old, 780 to 1175 lbs., 69.00 to 79.00.

Feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 750 to 1250 lbs., 58.00 to 65.00; middle aged, 950 to 1350 lbs., 52.00 to 55.00; aged, 850 to 1300 lbs., 48.50 to 51.75, full 47.00 to 47.75. Large frame 1, 1400 to 1760 lbs., 47.50 to 51.50, few 53.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1325 to 1780 lbs., 51.50; low dressing, 49.25 to 50.75. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1150 to 1500 lbs., 48.00 to 51.50; low dressing, 46.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1250 lbs., 48.50 to 51.50; 945 to 1000 lbs., 46.50 to 48.50; low dressing, 45.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1575 to 2270 lbs., 61.00 to 64.00 low dressing, 60.50 to 60.75.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, price per pair, 24 head, 900 to 1150 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, 2 to 4 years old, black whiteface-red whiteface 1100.00 to 1450.00; 28 head, 1200 to 1300 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, solid to broken, black-black whiteface 960.00 to 1160.00.
