Sioux Falls sheep sales
The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 1,085 head June 11, compared to 1,059 head last week and 888 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, wooled slaughter lambs sold steady. Slaughter ewes sold mostly $2 to $3 higher. Feeder lambs offered in larger numbers sold mostly $4 to $6 higher. Buyer attendance was good with good demand. Receipts included about 42% slaughter ewes, 36% feeder lambs, 19% slaughter lambs and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 122 to 129 lbs., 100.00 to 103.00 (101.75); 132 to 147 lbs., 102.00 to 103.00 (102.82). Wooled Choice 2 to 3, 5 head, 104 lbs., 96.00. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 131 to 157 lbs., 29.00 to 34.50 (31.79); 7 head, 169 lbs., 29.00. Good 3 to 4, 17 head, 184 to 196 lbs., 16.50 to 19.00 (18.17); 9 head, 200 to 215 lbs., 15.00 to 20.00 (17.31). Utility and Good 1 to 2, 160 to 184 lbs., 21.00 to 25.00 (24.30). Cull and Utility 1 to 2, 11 head, 137 to 146 lbs., 23.50 to 25.00 (23.89). Cull 1, 125 to 136 lbs., 18.00 to 22.00 (18.35). Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 44 to 48 lbs., 130.00 to 132.00 (130.96); 50 to 51 lbs., 125.00 to 134.00 (128.14); 60 to 69 lbs., 116.00 to 123.00 (120.04); 70 to 78 lbs., 106.00 to 109.00 (107.04); 11 head, 85 lbs., 108.50; 18 head, 92 to 94 lbs., 102.00 to 104.00 (102.90); 17 head, 93 lbs., 87.00 to 92.00 (88.47) buck lambs.
