Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,443 head June 7, compared to 2,843 head last week and 2,334 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 300 to 700 pounds and feeder heifers weighing 300 to 600 pounds were not enough for a market test. Feeder steers at 700 to 900 pounds were $2 lower, and 900 to 1000 pounds were steady in a light supply. Feeder heifers at 600 to 700 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, and 700 to 1000 pounds were steady. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Receipts included 86% 600 pounds and over, 5% 600 pounds and under, 9% cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 41% steers and 59% heifers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 805 lbs., 103.25. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 738 lbs., 103.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 96.00 to 97.00 (96.72); 13 head, 913 lbs., 98.00.

Feeder cows and heiferettes: 42 head, 70.00 to 89.00 (84.90).

Pairs: Per pair, Medium and large frame 1, young, 4 pairs 1280 to 1290 lbs., calves 258 lbs., 1000.00 to 1200.00 (1099.61).

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 59.00 to 60.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 50.00 to 55.00; high dressing, 56.00 to 58.00; low dressing, 43.00 to 48.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 64.50 to 69.50 (65.72); low dressing, 55.00 to 59.00 (57.00).
