Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, June 8, reported receipts of 2,918 head of sheep and goats, compared to 3,586 head last week and 3,666 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Light weight slaughter lambs were $20 to $25 lower, no test on heavy weights. Stocker and feeder goats were $20 lower. Slaughter goats were $20 to $25 lower. Demand was good. The supply included around 30% sheep including nearly 500 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Barbados ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 35.00 to 40.00. Pairs, few 20.00 to 24.00 per head. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 290.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 70.00 to 80.00. Ewes, Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 140 to 160 lbs., 25.00 to 30.00. Utility 1 to 3, Medium flesh, 100 to 140 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00. Bucks, 150 to 250 lbs., 25.00 to 46.00. Ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 35.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 60 lbs., 105.00 to 115.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 104.00 to 119.00. Selection 2, 45 to 60 lbs., 95.00 to 105.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 47.00 to 60.00, thin 30.00 to 40.00. Billies, 100 to 200 lbs., 70.00 to 80.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, fancy nanny kids 40 to 80 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 60.00 to 85.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 50.00 to 60.00. Pairs, 36.00 to 41.00 per head.

Stock and feeder goats: Selection 1, 25 to 45 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00.
