Georgia livestock auction summary
The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending June 8, showed receipts of 16,215 head, compared to 19,122 head last week and 12,935 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga. Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher, bulls were steady to $2 higher, feeder steers were steady, steer calves were mostly steady, heifers and heifer calves were steady to $2 higher, replacement cows were $1 to $3 higher. The offering included 6% steers over 600 pounds, 35% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 28% heifers under 600 pounds, 9% feeder cows, 16% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
