Dunlap cattle auction report
The Dunlap Livestock Auction, Dunlap, Iowa, reported receipts of 1,802 head June 8, compared to 1,574 head last week, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa. This was a special feeder cattle sale. Trade was active. Compared to two weeks ago steer calves going to grass were $1 to $2 higher, heifer calves were $2 to $3.50 higher. Feeder steers and heifers were steady. A nice crowd of people were on hand to evaluate the average to good quality cattle in the offering. Receipts included 61% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, 58% feeder heifers and 42% feeder steers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 420 to 434 lbs., 147.50 to 150.50 (148.34); 461 to 499 lbs., 139.00 to 152.00 (143.92); 501 to 549 lbs., 129.25 to 140.00 (132.78); 568 to 580 lbs., 130.00 to 132.50 (130.85); 605 to 644 lbs., 120.00 to 123.25 (121.40); 669 to 674 lbs., 118.50 to 122.50 (120.54); 701 to 721 lbs., 111.25 to 112.50 (111.76); 750 to 775 lbs., 110.00 to 114.75 (113.19); 801 to 808 lbs., 112.00 to 112.75 (112.50); 57 head, 877 lbs., 102.75; 15 head, 920 lbs., 104.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 16 head, 469 to 477 lbs., 132.00 to 136.00 (134.74); 518 to 538 lbs., 120.75 to 121.00 (120.89); 20 head, 659 to 691 lbs., 104.00 to 107.00 (104.61); 706 to 733 lbs., 105.00 to 109.75 (108.44).
