Wyobraska cattle sales report
The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending June 2, totaled 1,150 head, compared to 1,950 head last week and 1,800 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were not well tested, however a higher undertone was noted on heifers. Demand moderate to good. Direct trade moderate with prices steady on comparable sales. Offerings were light. Demand and buyer inquiry were moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 37% of the supply, heifers 63%, with 100% of the offerings over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1150 head of the total receipts.
