Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,605 head June 4, compared to 2,799 head last week and 3,047 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to two weeks ago, steer calves were mostly steady. Few feeder steers were $2 lower. Feeder heifers and heifer calves were $2 lower. Many quality new crop calves included. Weigh-ups were mostly average. Demand was very good with good attendance of buyers. Receipts comprised of 43% steers, 40% heifers, 17% bulls, with 37% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher, advance on lean cows. Slaughter bulls were steady. Demand limited for fleshier cattle. A total of 450 cows and bulls sold with 53% going to packers.

Boners, 63 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1650 lbs., 53.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 57.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 48.50 to 52.00. Lean, 52 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1250 lbs., 51.00 to 54.50; high dressing, 55.00 to 56.50; low dressing, 46.50 to 50.00. Light, 40 head, 85 to 90% lean, 750 to 975 lbs., 44.00 to 47.50; high dressing, 48.00 to 52.00; low dressing, 39.50 to 43.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 56 head, 1200 to 2500 lbs., 65.00 to 68.50; high dressing, 69.00 to 74.00; low dressing, 60.50 to 64.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 3 to 5 years old, 1000 to 1100 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, average blacks 785.00 to 870.00.
