Springfield livestock salesThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,500 head June 6, compared to 1,805 head last week and 1,887 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers, Holsteins and heifers were steady, except 500- to 700-pounds steers were $3 to $5 higher. Demand was moderate to good, supply moderate to heavy. A special wean vac sale was held in conjunction with the regular feeder cattle sale. Hay harvest is back into full swing after the recent rains. The feeder supply included 32% steers, 17% Holsteins, 43% heifers, 9% bulls, with 39% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 122.00 to 132.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 115.00 to 130.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 117.00 to 126.50; 740 to 800 lbs., 107.00 to 112.00.
