Sioux Falls sheep salesThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 1,059 head of sheep and goats June 4, compared to 796 head last week and 829 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week's light run, slaughter lambs sold $3 to $4 higher. Slaughter ewes sold mostly $4 to $5 lower. Feeder lambs sold steady to $2 lower. Receipts of slaughter lambs and ewes more numerous than last week. Receipts were about 38% slaughter ewes, 32% slaughter lambs, 22% feeder lambs and the balance was miscellaneous sheep and goats. Buyer attendance and demand were moderate. Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice 2 to 3, 110 to 123 lbs., 97.50 to 103.00 (100.79); 21 head, 133 lbs., 98.00. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 21 head, 125 lbs., 99.25; 132 to 149 lbs., 98.00 to 104.50 (103.16); 153 to 164 lbs., 100.00 to 100.50 (100.06). Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 20 head, 147 lbs., 28.00; 168 to 177 lbs., 23.00 to 28.00 (25.44). Good 3 to 4, 9 head, 198 lbs., 19.50; 206 to 243 lbs., 18.00 to 21.00 (19.62). Utility 1 to 2, 14 head, 154 to 158 lbs., 20.00 to 21.00 (20.49). Cull 1, 101 to 158 lbs., 15.00 to 19.00 (16.65). Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 43 lbs., 131.00; 54 to 59 lbs., 120.00 to 122.00 (121.23); 62 to 67 lbs., 110.00 to 116.00 (113.41); 7 head, 64 lbs., 96.00 short docks; 14 head, 71 to 75 lbs., 112.00 to 114.00 (113.12); 19 head, 88 lbs., 105.00.
