Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,843 head May 31, compared to 2,780 head last week and 3,313 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers at 300 to 700 pounds were not enough for a market test. Steers at 700 to 850 pounds were $3 to $4 higher, and 850 to 1000 pounds were steady. Heifers at 700 to 800 pounds were $2 higher, and 800 to 900 pounds were $2 lower in a very light supply. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Receipts included 88% 600 pounds and over, 5% 600 pounds and under, 7% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 66% steers and 34% heifers.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 63.00 to 67.25 (65.56); low dressing, 57.00 to 61.00 (59.00).
