OKC West livestock report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 5,447 head June 6, compared to 4,457 head last week and 6,800 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $2 lower. Feeder heifers were steady to $1 lower. Demand was moderate to good for feeder cattle despite the declines across the whole beef and cattle complex. Steer calves were steady in a light test, few 600- to 700-pound steer calves were $3 to $5 lower. Few heifer calves were steady to $2 lower. Demand was moderate for calves as many farmers in the field cutting wheat. wheat yields thus far well below what was expected. Feeder cattle in mostly medium flesh, few fleshy. Weigh-ups were average to full. The supply consisted of 84% over 600 pounds, 9% under 600 pounds, 7% cows and bulls. The total supply included 39% heifers. Slaughter cows uneven with boner and breaker cows $1 to $2 higher. Lean cows were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 420 cows and bulls sold with 33% going to packers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 685 lbs., 110.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 106.00 to 109.00; 825 lbs., 102.50; 925 to 975 lbs., 95.00 to 96.75; 1025; 95.75. Medium and large frame 2, 480 lbs., 119.00; 615 lbs., 109.00; 725 to 750 lbs., 104.00 to 107.00; 800 to 875 lbs., 94.00 to 102.25; 925 to 1000 lbs., 92.00 to 95.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 580 lbs., 104.00; 625 to 700 lbs., 97.50 to 98.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 96.00 to 98.25; 850 to 900 lbs., 92.00 to 94.75. Medium and large frame 2, 650 to 700 lbs., 97.50 to 101.50; 725 to 800 lbs., 94.00 to 99.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 90.00 to 95.25; 900 to 915 lbs., 88.50 to 89.00.

Slaughter cows: Breaker, 36 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1050 to 1750 lbs., 51.50 to 54.00; high dressing, 56.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 49.00 to 50.00. Boners, 35 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1600 lbs., 52.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 56.50 to 58.50; low dressing, 47.50. Lean, 31 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1350 lbs., 47.00 to 49.00; high dressing, 51.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 43.50 to 46.50. Light, 6 head, 80 to 90% lean, 875 to 1025 lbs., 49.00; low dressing, 40.00 to 44.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 17 head, 1350 to 2475 lbs., 64.00 to 67.00; high dressing, 67.50 to 70.50; low dressing, 59.00 to 63.50; very high 75.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 950 lbs., with 150-lb. calves, average blacks, 1230.00; 5 to 6 years old, 950 to 1000 lbs., with 200- to 300-lb. calves, thin blacks, 1160.00; 7 to 9 years old, 1100 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, average blacks, 960.00.
