Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., reported receipts of 207 head May 31, compared to 1,597 head last week and 395 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, a trend was not applicable on all classes due to light receipts. Demand was moderate to good. Receipts included about 14% slaughter ewes, 84% feeder lambs, with the balance slaughter bucks and other miscellaneous sheep and goats. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 7 head, 163 lbs., 23.00. Good 3 to 4, 8 head, 231 lbs., 17.00. Utility 1 to 2, 13 head, 154 lbs., 29.50. Feeder lambs: Medium and Large 1 to 2, 46 head, 85 lbs., 105.00 short docks; 80 head, 116 lbs., 88.00 old crop; 11 head, 125 lbs., 97.00 fleshy; 16 head, 123 lbs., 87.00 old crop Date: 6/7/07
