Georgia cattle sales summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending June 1, showed receipts of 19,122 head, compared to 20,081 head last week and 8,952 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $3 lower, feeder steers were steady to $2 lower, heifers were steady to $1 lower, steer calves and heifer calves were $1 to $2 lower, replacement cows were unevenly steady. The offering included 6% steers over 600 pounds, 32% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 26% heifers under 600 pounds, 13% feeder cows, 16% slaughters cows and 1% bulls.
