Ft. Smith livestock auction reportThe Ft. Smith Livestock Auction, Ft. Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 977 head June 4, compared to 100 head last week and 1,034 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, there was no sale due to the holiday. The supply included 600 feeder calves, 246 feeder yearlings, 35 replacement cows, 78 slaughter cows, 17 slaughter bulls, and 0 replacement bulls. The feeder supply consisted of about 35% English breed and English crosses, 35% exotic breed and exotic crosses, 30% Brahman and Brahman crosses, and 0% Holsteins and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply included about 60% steers and bulls with 40% heifers. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 47.00 to 51.50; high dressing, 52.00 to 56.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 40.00 to 45.50; high dressing, 46.00 to 50.00; low dressing, 34.00 to 39.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 45.00 to 49.50; high dressing, 50.00 to 54.50; low dressing, 40.00 to 44.50. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 63.00 to 67.50; high dressing, 68.00 to 72.50; low dressing, 55.00 to 62.50.
