Burlington FFA members receive Washington Leadership Conference

Oklahoma

Ben Hudgens and Thomas Allen of the Burlington FFA chapter are among 41 Oklahoma FFA members statewide to receive a scholarship to attend the 2007 Washington Leadership Conference in the nation's capital June 4 to 12.

These FFA members were recognized during the 81st State FFA Convention held at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, April 24 during the first general session.

Hudgens received a $500 scholarship sponsored by the Farm Credit of Enid and Allen was presented with a $500 scholarship from the Craig Foundation.

More than 2,300 FFA members from around the nation will experience the unique and rewarding opportunity to attend the Washington Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. At the conference, students are challenged to take their leadership skills to the highest level by learning to build relationships and solve local problems, developing high standards of character and living to serve.

FFA members will tour the U.S. Capitol, visit with members of Congress and perform a service-learning project within the Washington, D.C., area while building friendships with fellow FFA members from across the nation.

The Oklahoma FFA Alumni Association sponsors two charter buses to the Washington Leadership Conference each summer for the scholarship recipients and approximately 60 other Oklahoma FFA members.
