Apache cattle sales report

Stockman's Livestock Inc., Apache, Okla., reported receipts of 2,455 head June 2, compared to 2,178 head last week and 2,490 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder and stocker cattle were steady to $1 lower. Very limited test on stocker cattle. Cattle were in thin to fleshy condition. There was a good attendance of buyers and trade was active on better offerings, moderate on balance. Receipts were comprised of 48% steers, 47% heifers with 75% feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Demand was moderate to good on limited numbers of bred cows and pairs going to grass. A total of 383 cows and bulls sold with 50% to packers.

Light, 19 head, 85 to 92% lean, 725 to 1000 lbs., 44.00 to 47.50; high dressing, 48.00 to 51.50; low dressing, 39.00 to 43.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 17 head, 1300 to 2200 lbs., 63.50 to 67.00; high dressing, 68.00; low dressing, 57.50 to 62.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 3 to 5 years old, 1175 to 1250 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, average quality, 800.00 to 875.00; 3 to 7 years old, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 2 to 5 months bred, average qualit,y 740.00 to 850.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 4 to 5 years old, 1000 to 1250 lbs., with 250- to 375-lb. calves, average blacks, 1140.00 to 1160.00; 7 years old, 1100 to 1175 lbs., with 90- to 100-lb. calves, average quality, 950.00 to 970.00.
