Amarillo livestock salesThe Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,207 head June 5, compared to 1,717 head last week and 1,650 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher. There was no test on slaughter bulls. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate. Feeder cattle accounted for approximately 90% of the run with slaughter cows and bulls accounting for 10% of the run. In the feeder supply steers made up approximately 54%, heifers 46%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds 69%.
