Wyobraska cattle sales report

The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending June 30, totaled 1,285 head, compared to 1,860 head last week and 7,450 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were not well tested. Demand was moderate to good for available supplies. Direct trade slow and no good price comparison available. Offerings moderate. Demand and buyer inquiry moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 87% of the supply, heifers 13%. Offerings over 600 pounds totaled around 96%. Direct sales accounted for 1050 head of the total receipts.

Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 440 lbs., 121; 650 lbs., 110.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 710 lbs., 105.00. Large frame 2, 720 lbs., 55.00; 765 lbs., 54.00; 920 lbs., 55.00. Large frame 2 to 3, 715 lbs., 49.00. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, fleshy 825 lbs., 103.50. Delivered price, Medium and large frame 1, 700 lbs., 116.80; 775 to 790 lbs., 106.75 to 109.50; 800 to 830 lbs., 105.00 to 107.25.

Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 715 lbs., 100.00. Large frame 2, 465 lbs., 92.00; 760 lbs., 52.00. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, fleshy 725 lbs., 99.00. Delivered price, none.
