Wolf kills calf near EurekaKALISPELL, Mont. (AP)--A wolf killed a calf near Eureka, but state wildlife officials don't plan to kill any of the wolves in the Lydia pack because it is the pack's first documented livestock kill. The state Fish, Wildlife and Parks Department has captured and put a radio collar on a female wolf in the pack to more closely monitor its activities, FWP wolf specialist Kent Laudon said. The pack was identified last year by Laudon and his team as a new breeding pack. It is being monitored because it is within an existing grazing allotment on federal land. Jim Williams, an FWP wildlife manager, said the agency will try to haze the pack out of the grazing allotment. Date: 7/3/07
