South Central Direct Sheep

The South Central Direct Sheep sales report for the week ending June 29, showed receipts of 5,500 feeder lambs, and 500 slaughter meat goats, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder lambs were steady. There were no slaughter lambs. Slaughter and replacement ewes, were not tested. Slaughter meat goats were steady. Trading was active, demand good. Lambs are heavier than normal and continue to be marketed before extreme heat affects the market.

Feeder lambs: Texas, 5500 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 70 to 90 lbs., 103.00 to 108.00, set 75 lbs., 110.00.

Slaughter meat goats: Texas, 500 head, Selection 1 to 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 85.00 to 95.00.
