Pratt livestock auction report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 1,026 head June 28, compared to 776 head last week and 1,926 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 300 to 800 pounds and feeder heifers weighing 300 to 850 pounds were not enough for a market test but a higher undertone was noted. Feeder steers at 800 to 900 pounds were $5 higher, and 900 to 1000 pounds were not tested but a higher undertone was noted. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were $1 higher. Receipts included 79% 600 pounds and over, 12% 600 pounds and under, 9% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 69% steers and 31% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 38 head, 599 lbs., 119.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 111.00 to 114.50 (113.97); 47 head, 772 lbs., 113.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 110.00 to 111.25 (110.64); 850 to 900 lbs., 109.35 to 111.35 (110.03); 4 head, 921 lbs., 106.00; 58 head, 957 lbs., 103.60. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 23 head, 741 lbs., 107.50; 15 head, 769 lbs., 105.50. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 682 lbs., 100.00; 12 head, 747 lbs., 101.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 104.50 to 105.00 (104.69). Large frame 2, 10 head, 896 lbs., 98.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 3 head, 237 lbs., 147.00; 3 head, 485 lbs., 112.00; 3 head, 540 lbs., 110.00; 43 head, 591 lbs., 111.75; 22 head, 644 lbs., 110.75; 73 head, 670 lbs., 112.10; 43 head, 744 lbs., 108.50; 10 head, 782 lbs., 104.50; 24 head, 846 lbs., 104.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 19 head, 679 lbs., 107.25; 9 head, 744 lbs., 102.75. Medium and large frame 2, 6 head, 747 lbs., 99.00.

Baby calves: Mixed steers, bulls and heifers, per head, 12 head, 110.00 to 200.00 (141.67).

Feeder cows and heiferettes: 8 head, 70.00 to 89.00 (78.38).

Bred cows: Per head, Young, Medium and large frame 1, 2nd trimester, 8 head, 1220 lbs., 840.00.

Pairs: Per pair, Medium and large frame 1, 3 pair, 1260 lbs., with 190 lbs., calves 1040.00.

Slaughter cows: Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 50.00 to 55.00; high dressing, 56.00 to 58.00; low dressing, 42.00 to 47.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 64.00 to 67.50 (65.25); high dressing, 1 head, 71.25; low dressing, 57.50 to 58.50 (57.83).
