Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 431 head June 28, compared to 901 head last week and 374 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter ewes sold mostly steady. Feeder lambs under 75 pounds sold steady to firm in a limited test, no comparison on lambs over 75 pounds. Feeder lambs sold mostly in small packages. Demand is moderate to good. Receipts included about 30% slaughter ewes, 68% feeder lambs with the balance slaughter bucks and other miscellaneous sheep and goats. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 26 head, 150 lbs., 29.25; 163 to 170 lbs., 28.75 to 29.00 (28.97). Good 3 to 4, 11 head, 201 lbs., 22.75. Utility 1 to 2, 8 head, 157 lbs., 25.50. Cull 1, 25 head, 138 lbs., 16.25. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 45 lbs., 120.00; 18 head, 58 lbs., 114.50 short docks; 17 head, 65 lbs., 119.75; 6 head, 74 lbs., 116.50; 85 to 87 lbs., 108.50; 10 head, 88 lbs., 102.50 black face; 11 head, 86 lbs., 103.00 short docks; 10 head, 93 lbs., 101.00 black face; 105 to 106 lbs., 104.00 to 104.25 (104.08) black face; 19 head, 117 lbs., 103.50; 5 head, 120 lbs., 76.00 buck lambs. Medium and large frame 2, 27 head, 83 lbs., 106.75. Medium frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 119 lbs., 97.00 old crop.
