Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, June 29, reported receipts of 1,234 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,642 head last week and 2,762 head last year, according to the USDA to Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, not an adequate market test on feeder lambs. Light weight slaughter lambs sold $5 to $10 higher. Feeder kids sold $8 to $10 higher. Slaughter kids sold $10 t to $15 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 30% sheep including nearly 300 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 80 to 110 lbs., 50.00 to 70.00; ewe lambs 50 to 70 lbs., 90.00 to 111.00. Barbados ewes, few pairs, 27.00 to 35.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 80.00 to 94.00, set to 100.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 100 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00. Barbados lambs, 40 to 80 lbs., 71.00 to 85.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 60 lbs., 108.00 to 124.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 112.00 to 120.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 120 lbs., 50.00 to 62.00, thin 42.00 to 45.00. Billies, few 100 to 200 lbs., 60.00 to 66.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 85 lbs., 110.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 50 to 80 lb. fancy nannies 120.00 to 128.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 80.00 to 92.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 60.00 to 80.00. Billies, Selection 1, 125 to 195 lbs., 68.00 to 90.00.

Stock and feeder goats: Selection 1, 30 to 45 lbs., 85.00 to 100.00.
