Dodge City cattle sales report

Receipts at Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., included 580 head June 27, compared to 2,731 head last week and 3,576 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, there were not enough steers and heifers of any weight class for a market test, but a steady undertone was noted. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were steady in an extremely light test. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 21% 600 pounds and over, 59% 600 pounds and under, 20% slaughter cows and bulls with 117 early. The feeder supply included 53% steers and 57% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 18 head, 899 lbs., 102.00; 5 head, 989 lbs., 94.00. Medium and large frame 2, 9 head, 480 lbs., 122.00; 16 head, 650 lbs., 112.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 109.00 to 110.50 (109.70). Medium and large frame 3, 5 head, 665 lbs., 83.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 122.50 to 124.00 (123.20); 550 to 600 lbs., 116.00 to 117.50 (116.83). Medium and large frame 2, 8 head, 383 lbs., 132.00; 11 head, 259 lbs., 116.00; 5 head, 768 lbs., 111.25. Medium frame 2, 23 head, 417 lbs., 128.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 300 lbs., 125.00.

Baby calves: Mixed steers bulls and heifers, 12 head, 200 to 270 lbs., 320.00 to 360.00; 4 head, 100 to 160 lbs., 120.00 to 225.00. 8 head, 55 to 100 lbs., 50.00 to 85.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 54.00 to 59.50; high dressing, 60.00 to 64.50; low dressing, 50.00 to 53.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 53.00 to 57.00; low dressing, 42.50 to 52.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 66.50 to 70.00; low dressing, 58.50 to 62.50.
