Arkansas livestock sales
The weekly summary of livestock sales in Arkansas for the week ending June 28, showed estimated receipts of 9,210 head, compared to 10,599 head last week and 8,672 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, slaughter cows sold $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls sold steady to $2 higher. Feeders sold mostly weak to $3 lower. The supply was composed of 5.430 stocker and feeder calves, 2,090 feeder yearlings, 730 replacement cows, 865 slaughter cows, and 95 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 45% yearling heifers. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 47.00 to 53.00; high dressing, 53.00 to 56.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 46.00 to 52.00; high dressing, 52.00 to 58.00; low dressing, 43.00 to 46.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 43.00 to 49.00; high dressing, 49.00 to 57.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 43.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 35.00 to 42.00; low dressing, 25.00 to 35.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 59.00 to 66.00; high dressing, 66.00 to 70.00; low dressing, 54.00 to 59.00. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, english cross and english exotic crosses, 300 to 350 lbs., 124.00 to 134.00 few sales to 146.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 119.00 to 129.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 115.00 to 125.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 122.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 108.00 to 118.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 104.00 to 114.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 101.00 to 111.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 96.00 to 106.00. Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 650 to 800 lbs., open heiferettes, 71.00 to 81.00; 2 to 3 years old, 800 to 1000 lbs., open heiferettes, 56.00 to 66.00; 3 to 7 years old, 850 to 1250 lbs., third stage 64.00 to 74.00, 675.00 to 775.00 per head; second stage bred, 54.00 to 64.00, 600.00 to 700.00 per head; first stage bred or open, 55.00 to 65.00; 8 to 10 years old, 850 to 1200 lbs., second to third stage bred, 47.00 to 57.00, 575.00 to 675.00 per head; thin grazing cows 40.00 to 50.00. Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 7 years old, 800 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 925.00 to 1025.00 per pair; 200- to 300-lb. calves, 1075.00 to 1175.00 per pair, few to 1460.00.
