Tulia livestock market report
The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,706 head July 23, compared to 2,383 head last week and 2,464 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers over 800 pounds were firm to $1 higher, 600 to 800 pounds were $2 to $3 higher instances $4 to $5 higher on heifers, and under 600 pounds were not enough for a market test but a higher undertone was noted. Slaughter cows were steady and bulls were not tested. Trade was active and demand good to very good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 650- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 93% and slaughter cows and bulls 7% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 79% of the run, heifers 21%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 93%.
